Day Care Nursery Barwick-in-Elmet Leeds

Barwick Day Care offers childcare on domestic premises in the leafy suburb of Barwick-in-Elmet, Leeds, West Yorkshire. We have taken the good elements from both a nursery and childminder and made a hybrid of the two.

Between us, we have over 40 plus years of experience with our staff qualifications ranging from Level 3 to 6.

We are delighted to offer a flexible approach for working parents offering either a full or half day at the setting, we work 51 weeks of the year.

Our main priority is to provide a safe and stimulating environment making sure that your child / children have fun while having a great learning experience whilst in our care.

We offer a dedicated room that is set up for children in the early year’s foundation to cover all 7 early learning goals throughout the EYFS. We track and observe your children’s development within a journal that is available to you as a parent at all times. This is part of Ofsted requirements but we pride ourselves on going the extra mile to encourage your child /children to grow in both confidence and ability.
Through both planned activities and free play we follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework.

Our main priority is to provide a safe and stimulating environment making sure that your child / children have fun while having a great learning experience whilst in our care.

All meals are provided for our Day Care Nursery and Before and After School Club. We  prepare fresh, healthy, tasty and nutritious meals for the children daily.

Our setting is bright and cheerful and we have different areas of space for varied age groups of children to play and explore. We have two rooms a purpose built a baby room and preschool room, which is now more of a nursery setting for the older children to learn and play.

We provide a happy environment to bring out the best in all the children we care for by providing simulating activities using the curriculum guidelines laid down in the Eary Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).   We plan daily activities for each age range to encourage learning and development through play.

Our Setting

Baby room – 0 to 2 years old

Our purpose built baby room has been built to give our younger children space and opportunity to explore and learn in their own unique way. This room is managed by level 3 qualified members of staff. We have kept the homely touch and filled it with softer, more suitable, toys for children under two to create a quieter and more relaxed environment.
There are no more than 6 children in the baby room we pride ourselves on our low ratios.
Our Preschool room accommodates children aged 2-5 years, we have extremely experienced staff that take lead in making sure that all age groups are given the opportunity to progress and learn, Emma is a Level 3 Nursery Nurse and takes the lead role in caring for the 2-3 year olds and Chloe is a Level 6 pre school teacher who takes the lead role in getting all our children ready for school. A topic/theme is chosen and activities are planned around it. Each day is varied in activities and is planned out with the children’s interest’s and exiting learning experiences in mind. We have different table to activities. messy play and crafts each day which link to the EYFS areas of learning to allow them to learn whilst freely playing e.g. Drawing, Kitchen area, reading, dressing up etc. There are no more than 12 children in our preschool room.

  • My daughter has just started going there. She knew Georgia from her previous settling which helped greatly with settling her. My daughter has additional needs and lisa and Georgia bent over backwards to make sure her extra needs are accommodated

  • My daughter thoroughly enjoys going to Barwick in Elmet day care. She has commented that the food is delicious and Lisa and Georgia are lovely. She likes the fact that she gets variety with where she plays..... could be at the local park, in the garden or in the new play room. She has got some nice friends there too.

  • Both my 6-year-old daughter and 9-year-old son went to Barwick Holiday Club during the Christmas half term. They had an amazing time and took part in lots of activities like dodgeball, played with the monster trucks, Xbox/Computer games, played outside on the school trim trail and had a cricket training session. There were shattered when they got home and can't wait to go back!

What our parents say

5 stars - "My daughter has been going to Barwick Daycare for the last 2 years and she loves it. Great setting, amazing staff and they keep you fully up to date with progress through both a daily catch up as you collect them, and there is also an app which they use very well to make sure you know what's happening, what they are eating etc while you are at work. Couldn't recommend more."
